Author: Dawn Oliver, Certified Postpartum Doula
At Compassionate Care Doula Services, I believe feeding your baby is not a competition — it’s a connection.
Whether you’re choosing to breastfeed, bottle feed, or do a combination of both, I want you to know: you are supported here.
The Beauty of Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding can be a powerful bonding experience. It provides antibodies, promotes closeness, and has many benefits for both baby and mother. For some parents, it’s natural and empowering. For others, it can be filled with stress, pain, or guilt when challenges arise. Both realities are valid.
The Power of Bottle Feeding
Bottle feeding — whether with formula or expressed breastmilk — allows flexibility, shared caregiving, and rest. It gives parents options and allows partners, grandparents, or doulas to step in and help. It’s just as nurturing and loving, and sometimes, it’s exactly what a family needs.
Fed is First — and So is Your Mental Health
I support whatever feeding method protects your baby and your peace. Your emotional well-being matters. When you’re rested and confident, your baby benefits too. Let’s take the pressure off and make space for grace.
My Promise to You
As your postpartum doula, I offer informed, non-judgmental support no matter how you choose to feed your baby. This is a safe space to be seen, heard, and respected.
